Data Protection
The enterprise today is represented by its data, be it databases, file shares or a complex document management and collaboration environment. While it is critical that these data environment are able to provide the business with the capabilities and performance they require, it is equally if not more important that this data be protected from any of a number of threats including: viruses, accidental deletion, hardware failure and even intentional sabotage.
The traditional approach to protecting enterprise data at rest is through formal backup & recovery and archiving processes. The challenge with this approach is that they are too often considered in isolation as “doing backups” and “creating archives”. Instead, at FlexITy we recommend that the business requirements behind these processes first be examined and only then can tools and services then aligned with these requirements. This leads us to considering the service holistically as “Data Protection”.
The FlexITy approach enables synergies between previously isolated functions and enables the optimal use of resources and technologies such as snapshots, virtual tape libraries (with or without data deduplication capability), physical tape libraries and off site replication.
